He was predeceased by: his mother Fannie Moore Bowen; his wife Mary Ann Bowen; his father Howard Bowen Sr.; and his siblings, Phyllis Speakman, Virginia McCoy, Ruben Bowen Sr. and Glen Bowen.
He is survived by: his children, Billy Bowen (Judy), Robert Bowen and Roberta Brackett (Andy); his grandchildren, Faith Spalding (Tony), Heather Blanton (Stephen), Kyle Bowen (Rebecca), Kaycee Brackett, Jessica Scott (Anthony), Christian Brackett and Will Brackett; and his siblings, Tony Bowen, Eugene Bowen, Larry Bowen, Carol Patterson, Ruby McGrath and Eleanor Kinser.
