He was predeceased by: his wife Mot; his parents, David Monroe Ellen, Sr. and Carrie McGill Ellen; and his brothers, David Monroe Ellen, Jr. and John Henry Ellen, II.
He is survived by: his former wife Ada Margaret; his children, William Monroe Ellen (Jackie), Robert McGill Ellen (Dawn) and Jean Elizabeth Owen (Paul); his grandchildren, Hannah Amell (Jared), Gretchen Jordan (Steven), Mary Margaret Grantham (Zach), Heath Owen (Samantha), Justin Owen (Elliott), Mac Ellen, Sydney Ellen and Copeland Ellen; his great grandchildren, Cade Amell, Ellie Amell, Reid Amell, Beau Amell, Monroe Jordan, Wallace Jordan, Eli Jordan, Mary Jennings Grantham, Ryann Grantham, Hallie Grantham and Baby Owen; and his daughter Tiffany Staples.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Norton Funeral Home and Crematory - Bishopville (425 N Main St, Bishopville, SC 29010). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church of Bishopville (115 W Church St, Bishopville, SC 29010). A burial was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 3:45 PM to 4:15 PM at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery of Bishopville (110 Pinchum Sly Rd, Bishopville, SC 29010).
