He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie T. Stokes, Sr. and Lurene Brown Stokes; and his siblings, Keritha Worley, Charlie T. "Bud" Stokes, Jr. and Lonnie Stokes.
He is survived by: his wife Janie Maria Stokes; his sons, Johnny F. Stokes, Jr. (Terri), Chad L. Stokes (Donna) and Russell Scott Stokes (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Tyler, Matthew, Hunter, Samantha, Andy (Megan), Garland (Amanda), Lawson (Daisy), Leah, Josh and Eden; his great grandchild Paisleigh Stokes; his siblings, Luke Stokes (Diane), Lavonne Grooms, Judy Capell and Wayne Stokes; and his sister-in-law Belinda Stokes. He is also survived by numerous other family members and friends.
