She was loved and cherished by many people including: her husband Lynwood Horton; her adoptive parents, Frances Laura Watkins of Charlotte and Robert Watkins of Asheville; her children, Russell Horton and Sheila; her grandchildren, Ashley Horton, Kathryn DeVido and Kenny Benfield; her children, Kevin Robert Benfield and Kenney Lee Benfield; her siblings, Barbara Rogers and Phillip Smith; her nieces and nephews, Laura Sue Gainey, Bridget Gainey, Delane Gainey and Amanda Gainey; and her friend Betty Tidwell.
