She was predeceased by: her mother May Ella Cotton; her husband James Edward Mayo Jr.; her children, Ophelia Phillips, Joan Simon, Leslie Walker, Yvonne Mayo and James Edward Mayo III; and her sister Ophelia Taylor.
She is survived by: her children, Janet Bracey, Dinah Mayo and Lorranine Mayo-Brown (Baldwin); and her grandchildren, Keisha Tate, Tomeka Borges, Craig Wilson, Destiny Wilson, Jimmy Bracey, Jr., Marcus Bracey, Jamara Mantrell Bracey, Ta-Tanisha Thomas, Phillip S. Mayo, Olivia Cook, Zora Mayo, James Edward Mayo IV, Brandon James Brown, Loren Alexus Brown and Braxton Lee Brown. She is also survived by great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
