He was predeceased by: his parents, James R. Gainey and Annie Lucille Cassady Gainey; his wife Grace Eubanks Gainey; and his siblings, Lillian Baker and Thomas L. Gainey.
He is survived by: his children, Burton Gainey (Christy), Jenny Gainey and Derrick Gainey (Christina Selle); his grandchildren, Hannah, Chase and Jack; his siblings, Glenn Gainey (Kathy), Iris Draft (Bobby) and Joan Horton (Donnie); and his sister-in-law Silveree Gainey.
