She was predeceased by: her parents, Charlie Newman and Nannie McCaskill Newman; her husband Luther "June" Hartis; her son Ray Hartis; her daughter-in-law Faye Hartis; and her siblings, Alma Hilton, Susie Mae McGee, Sarah Anderson, Boyd Newman, Heyward Newman, Buster Newman, James D. Newman, Bill Newman, Grady Newman, Roy Newman and Nelson Newman.
She is survived by: her children, Gene Hartis, Larry Hartis and Cathy Blackwell (Rex); her grandchildren, Tammie Broughton (Greg), Susan Barks, Michael Hartis (April), Sammy Hartis (Christina) and Nathan Hartis (Brittany); her great grandchildren, Rae Ashlie Robinson (Dylan), Mary Kelsie Mungo (Matthew), Eric Broughton (Courtney), Brenna Broughton, Sarah Barks, Alex Barks, Liam Hartis and Mason Hartis; her sister Helen Catoe (Glenn Reed); her nephew Jeff Newman; and her close friend Susan Martin. She is also survived by 5 great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Monday, March 10th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Timrod Baptist Church (4227 Timrod Rd, Bethune, SC 29009). A reception was held on Monday, March 10th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
