He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles "Shorty" Costner and Marie Costner; and his brother Steve Costner. He is survived by: his siblings, Wanda Moore, Sherry Ingram and Dale Costner; his children, Jessica Deaton and Jamie Costner; his wife Tammy Costner of Taylorsville; and his granddaughter Maddie. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Scotland Regional Hospice Morrison Manor or Bennettsville Second Baptist Mission Fund.
