She was predeceased by: her parents, Dewey Shankle and Lena Justice Shankle; her husband Billy Ray Dowdy, Sr.; and her brother John Richard "Buddy" Shankle. She is survived by: her children, Billy Ray Dowdy, Jr. (Sherry Jordan) of Bennettsville, Charles "Charlie" Dowdy (Vanessa) of Bennettsville and Teressa Dowdy Bryant (James) of McColl; her sister Lillian Deese (Jackie) of Tatum; her grandchildren, Courtney Dowdy Skipper (Phillip), Heather Butler (Brandon) and Jamie Heyward (Ines); her great grandchild Bailey; her cousins, Patrick, Khloe Skipper, Elena Hayward and Tristan Heyward; her great great grandchild Kylee; and her close friends, Nancy, Donald Hutchinson, Marilyn Parker Brown, Marcella Love, Lib Dixon and Helen Clark. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
