He was predeceased by: his parent Lide McDowell Sr.; his wife Mary Frances Owens McDowell; his children, Ralph McDowell, Dennis McDowell and Janet McDowell Graves; his grandson Kevin Turner; and his siblings, Silas McDowell, Prentiss McDowell, Ruth McDowell Nolan, Ruby McDowell and Aline McDowell Garner.
He is survived by: his daughters, Cynthia McDowell and Patricia Bundy (Steve) of Bennettsville; his grandchildren, Kim Carabo, Sheena McDowell Rogers and Josh Bundy; and his sister Frances McDowell Turner of Randleman, NC..
