He was predeceased by: his parents, George Martin Herndon, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth; his sister Pat Claiborne; and his stepfather John Schofield. He is survived by: his wife Rose Marie "Cookie" Herndon of Cheraw; his sons, Gene Herndon (Merri-Shannon) of Bennettsville and Eric Herndon (Leslie) of Bennettsville; his stepsons, Matthew Teal of Kentucky and Daniel Teal (Kacy) of Chesterfield; his sister Linda Lee (Ray) of Bennettsville; and his grandchildren, Paxton Herndon, Addison Herndon, Brayden Herndon, Braxton Teal, Maggie Teal and Neason Teal.
