He is survived by: his children, Donna Elaine Norton, Mischelle Peele of Laurinburg, NC, Amanda Clark (Nelson) of Bennettsville, SC, Donald "Bit" Peele and James Everette Peele (Amanda) of Bennettsville; his siblings, Jerry Wayne Norton (Wanda) of Laurel Hill, NC, Dixie Bass, Nellie Lewis (Butch) of Nashville, NC and Carol Terry of Tarboro, NC; his grandchildren, Candace Sessoms (Adam), Cameron Bledsoe (Jessica), Miranda Westbay (Jon), Courtney Poole (James Earl), James Peele II, Devin Norton, Katelyn Peele and Madison Kendall; his great grandchildren, Gavin, Jonathan, Cayleigh, Paisley, Rosalie, Piper, Brice, Emersyn, Airyah and Harper; and his cousin Pat Thomas of Bennettsville. He is also survived by other extended family members and friends.
