It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carrie Ann Wilkes of Bennettsville, South Carolina, who passed away on April 20, 2024, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Edmond Herndon and Janie Quick Herndon; her husband Linwood Douglas Wilkes, Sr.; her grandson Matthew Ryan Wilkes; and her siblings, Billy Herndon, Bobby Herndon, Prentiss Herndon, Nancy Herndon, Lou Sanderson, Betty Chavis, Frances Hudson, Wilma Smith and Susan Herndon.
She is survived by: her children, Linwood Douglas Wilkes, Jr. (Melisha) of Bennettsville, Carrie Wilkes Ramey (Dean) of Lamar, Betty Baumgardner of Bennettsville and Joyce Huggins of Chesterfield; her siblings, Edmond "Pee Wee" Herndon, Jr. of Liberty, NC, David Herndon (Judy) of Cheraw and Linda Jordan (Jesse) of Cheraw; her grandchildren, Danielle Crowley, Joshua Wilkes, Jalysha Wilkes, Christina Farris, April McDonald, Savannah Scruggs, Brittany Ramey, Michael Huggins, Justin Wilkes, Jasmine Anderson, Tyler Pope, Whitney Pope, Austin Lammonds, Steven McDaniel, Jr. and Carolina English; her children, Steve McDaniel and Shannon Lammonds; and her close friend Alexander Chavis. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
The family asks that memorial donations be made in Carrie's honor to Victory World Outreach Center PO Box 358 Bennettsville, SC 29512.
