He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Guy and Zadie Willis Whitfield; and his siblings, R. S., Bronson, David, Billy Joe Whitfield, Olene Burton and Imogene McCoy.
He is survived by: his wife Janice Burton Whitfield; his daughters, Melissa "Missy" Ann Whitfield of Belton, Marcy Whitfield Mullen (Kelley) of Belton and Amanda Whitfield Whitten (Neal) of Honea Path; his sister Francine Harper of Belton; and his grandchildren, Collin, Zadie, Nolan Mullen and Caroline O'Kelley.
