With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joseph Benedict Dawson of Beech Island, South Carolina, who passed away on October 31, 2024 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Dawson and Daisy Dawson; and his siblings, Albert Bonner, Edward Bonner, Roger and Denise Dawson.
He is survived by: his wife Ursula Mae Hamilton Dawson; his children, Yvonne Coleman of Beech Island and Anthony Dawson of Shirley; his son-in-law Myron Coleman of Beech Island; his sisters, Janet Bonner of Upstate, NY and Angela Jones of Bronx, NY.; his grandchildren, Anthony Dawson, Jr. and Anestia Dawson; and his great grandchildren, Hunter Madson and Quest Manson.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 17th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center (211 Park Ave SW, Aiken, SC 29801). A funeral service was held on Sunday, November 17th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the George Funeral Home Historic Downtown Chapel (211 Park Ave SW, Aiken, SC 29801).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in his memory be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an institution reflecting his lifelong dedication to aiding others.
