She was predeceased by: her spouse Thomas L. Butler, Sr.; her parents, Furman Herndon and Willie May Greene Herndon; and her son Thomas L. Butler, Jr.. She is survived by: her daughters, Diane DeWitt, Julie Haas and Linda Fulton. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations to Friends of Caroline Hospice 1110 13th Street, Port Royal, SC 29935.
