He was predeceased by: his mother J. H. Cordell; and his siblings, Robert Cordell and Nancy McGinnis. He is survived by: his wife Connie Cordell; his children, Harold Brett Cordell (Stacy), Fredrick Cordell (Tammy), Melissa Simmons (Jermaine) and Christina O'Brien (Kevin); and his siblings, Charles Cordell (Melba) and Betty Doenz. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to First Christian Church.
