He is survived by: his wife Mary Chapman; his daughter Mandy Chapman (Ryan); his grandsons, Wyatt and Kyler; and his brothers, Chuck (Cynthia), Curtis (Cheryl) and Michael (Donna). He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to The American Stroke Foundation, Concerns of Police Survivors or any local charity.
