He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. William and Ora Hawtrey; his former wife Betsy; his brothers, Chris and John; his nephew Mark; and his sisters-in-law, Mary, Nancy and Margie.
He is survived by: his wife Jo Ann; his brother Jim; and his children, Cathy Riley (Bill), Beth Beasley (John), Martha Cimmarrusti (Tony), Tom Hawtrey (Claire) and Nicole Geske. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.
