He was predeceased by: his parents, James Clarence, Sr. and Fannie Wheeler Watkins; his wife Henrietta Redfern Watkins; his daughter-in-law Susan H. Watkins; and his siblings, F. M. "Jack" Watkins, Herbert Watkins, Rachel Connelly, Louise Rogers and Mary Katherine Watkins.
He is survived by: his sons, William J. "Bill" Watkins, Dennis J. Watkins (Paula) and Timothy J. Watkins (Michelle); his brothers, John E. Watkins (Merlyn) and Maxie W. Watkins (Judy); his grandchildren, Benji Watkins (Vickie), Micah Watkins, Emzi Wewers (Drew), Ryan Watkins (Brittany), Britt Carver (Corey), Ben Watkins (Erika), Caleb Watkins and Metta Watkins; and his great grandchildren, Zed, Harper, Lynlee, Quinn, Cyrus, Lydia and Emmie. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
