He was predeceased by: his parents, Squire Etheredge and Earline Wise; his wife Bertha Mae Lytes-Wise; his grandchild Chasity; and his siblings, Janie Ruth Williams and John D. Wise.

He is survived by: his sister Josephine Wise; his sister-in-law Mary Lou Wise; his children, Frankie Joe Wise, Daniel Wise (Shirley), Janice Wise, Debra West, Carolyn Lindsay (Maurice) and Patricia Anderson; and his brother George Etheredge. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
