He was predeceased by: his parents, Berry Carter and Hattie Banks Carter; his wife Arlee Carter; his sons, Claude Carter, Jr., Lenard Carter and Roy Allen Carter; and his siblings, Alberta Lewis, Eunice Tolen, Hessie Long, James "Anjenois" Carter and Daniel Carter.
He is survived by: his children, Reverend Charles Carter (Nedra) of West Columbia, Troy Carter of Simpsonville, Bobby Dozier (Martha) of Batesburg-Leesville and Phyllis "Dimp" Carter; and his brother Jefferson Davis "J. D.". He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, a host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
