He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Grubbs and Salley Gilliam Grubbs; and his siblings, Junior Grubbs, Franklin Grubbs, Jake Grubbs, Leroy Grubbs, Rose Sanders, Annie Lou Kinard and Elizabeth "Lib" Sanders.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Steed Grubbs; his sons, Edward Grubbs (Teresa) and Walter Grubbs (Lisa); and his sister Irene Grubbs Padgett of Hampton. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
