She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Whirton and Zena Grunberg Whirton; and her spouse Gene Turner Johnson. She is survived by: her daughters, Karen Merritt (David) of Sandy Run, SC, Samantha Driggers (Westley L.) of Bamberg, SC and Michelle Cox (Robert) of Las Vegas, NV; her siblings, John Whirton (Zel), Esther Bolton (Arthur) and Daniel Whirton (Phillip); her grandchildren, Haley Shuler (Bryan), David Merritt, Jr. (Santana), Steven Driggers (Dawn), Robert Cox, Jr. (Lian), Chelseé Loadholt (Travis) and Tiffany Cox (William); and her great grandchildren, Braley, Benjamin, Wylder, Luke, Caylee, Lily, Paislee, Joey, Caden, Mikey, Isabella and Lilly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Colston Branch Baptist Church, 655 Sunday School Rd., Bamberg, SC 29003.
