He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hard Gooding and Mabel Cook Gooding; his wife Martha Ann Altman Gooding; and his siblings, Ralph, Douglas, Jake, Rudolph, Harold, Bill Gooding, Ernestine Browder, Verta Faircloth and Dorothy "Dot" Braxton. He is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews.
