He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Thompson and Blanche Ball Thompson; his daughter Rheada Fairchild; and his siblings, Helen Bywaters, Patty Barnhardt and Johnny Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Sue Mitchell Thompson; his sons, Terry Thompson of Wayne, WV, Darrell Thompson of Amarillo, TX and John David Thompson of Amarillo, TX; and his siblings, Donna Fay Harris of Ohio and Wetzel Thompson (Mary) of Ohio. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
