He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Thames and Virginia Murrell Thames; his wife Jan Thames; his son Marvin Lee Thames, Jr.; and his stepson Nick Fazi.
He is survived by: his children, Kevin Thames (Amy) and Donna Fischer (Otis); his daughter-in-law Jacqueline Thames; his grandchildren, Tyler Thames (Christy), Bailey Turnage (Steven), Brenna Thames, Russ Thames (Charles), Robbie Fischer (Sarah) and Brianne Sanders (Matthew); and his stepchildren, Wendy Fisher (Duane) and Krysti Fazi. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
