She was predeceased by: her parents, Andrew Jackson Avant and Beatrice Avant Avant; and her brother Jack Elwee Avant. She is survived by: her children, Deidra Odom (Gene) and Robert Thompson (Sherry); her grandchildren, Kimberly Hysong (Paul), Kevin Cook (Lyndsay), Samantha Barrett (Chad), Cierra Virtue (Mike) and Seth Thompson; her great grandchildren, Koty Woodard, Reagan Woodard, Trent Lowder, Reese Hysong and Jackson Cook; her great great grandchild McKenzie Woodard; and her sisters, Helen Bodiford (Douglas), Bobbie McPhetridge (Jimmy), Patricia McKenzie (Elbert) and Judy Price (Larry).

Due to Covid-19, the family asks that everyone please practice social distancing and facemasks as required.
