He was predeceased by: his parents, Owen Louis Barnes and Catherine Shirley Ray Barnes; and his brothers, Jimmy Barnes and Glenn "Boo" Barnes. He is survived by: his wife Josie Strickland Barnes; his stepson Roger Devin Chestnut (Ashley); his adoptive daughter Jacqueline Chestnut; his siblings, Kevin L Barnes, Steve Barnes, Gregg Barnes, Jack Barnes (Jeanette) and Janet Barnes Bone of Shelby, NC; his nephew Allen Barnes (Whitney Kellehan) of Andrews; his grandchildren, Roger Devin Chestnut, II (Samantha), Josey Ann Chestnut (Jameson Westbrook) and Ariel Chestnut (Mark Brandon); his great grandchildren, William, James, Linda Chestnut, Blakely and Michael James Westbrook; and his great-nephews, Christopher Barnes, Owen Barnes and Logan Barnes.
