It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Martin Johnson Flegel (Andrews, South Carolina), who passed away on September 16, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Martin W. Flegel and Myrtle "Myrt" McCants Flegel; his siblings, Mary Lambert (Ruice), Beatrice "Bee" Platt (Hubert), Patricia "Patty" Bankhead (Karl) and Charles Flegel; and his brother-in-law Shelby Pou.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Sparling Flegel; his children, Steven "Steve" Flegel (Judy), Christine "Chris" McRee (Bob), Martin "Marty" W. Flegel, Cynthia "Cindy" Emerick (Hubert) and Lisa Garrett; his stepdaughter Karrie Scarborough Hieber (David); his sister Hazel Pou; and his sister-in-law Jeanette Flegel. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
