He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, William Ellerbe Ackerman, Sr. and Bernice Olena Wilson Ackerman; his wife Kay; his children, Kathy McCutcheon (Mark) of Andrews, SC, John "Jay" Ackerman, Jr. (Laura) of Columbia, SC. and Kristy Stoneburner (Braden) of Columbia, SC.; his grandchildren, Josh, Kassidy, Olivia Grace, John Ellis, Eliza, Lawson, Blakely and Madison; his siblings, Gail Morris, Elaine Brown (Darrell), Wilson Ackerman (Willa) of Andrews, SC and Ellerbe Ackerman (Inga) of Kingstree, SC; and his brother-in-law Walker Morris. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
