He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Vernon Swails and Azilee Self Swails; and his granddaughter Arynn. He is survived by: his wife Mary Frances Gray Swails; his children, James Vernon Swails, Jr. (Hope), Marian Ann Swails Smedley (Chris) and Jonathan Eugene Swails; his grandchildren, David Goude, Sandy Johnson (Randy), O'Brian Swails (Avia), Cynthia Ann Garvin, Dustin Swails, Cayce Swails, Krista Swails and Cliff Cox; his great grandchildren, Faith, Elizabeth, Hailey, O'Brian, Remington, Matthew, Little P., Bentley, Tyson, Kayleigh and Evan; and his brother Pinkney Swails (Debbie).
