He was predeceased by: his parents, Lonnie Legrand Newton and Isolene Ward Newton; his in-laws, Henry and Margaret Ivey; and his siblings, Evaline Altman (Pressley), Betty Mae Baylor (Jhue), Yoakam Newton (Vera), Douglas "Bub" Newton and Dale Newton.

He is survived by: his wife Deborah "Debbie" Ivey Newton; his sons, Jason D. Newton (Tara) and Jeffrey D. Newton (Brooke); his grandchildren, Bryce Newton, Jayce Newton, Jules Newton and Kipp Newton; his siblings, Ruthalee Howard (Harry), Rev. Ronald "Ronnie" Newton (Shirley), Diane McCants (Jamie), Jerry Newton (Betty Ann) and Rosie Carter; and his sister-in-law Glenda Newton.
