He was predeceased by: his parents, Waymon Hudson Massey, Sr. and Agnes Mahaffey Massey; his son James "Jimmy" Fortner Massey; and his great grandchild Kyliee Ann Leopard. He is survived by: his children, Krystal James (Mike) and Waymon H. "Sonny" Massey, III (Cheryl); and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Nicole Maready (Quen), Michael Alexander James, Daniel Patton (Candace), Christopher Michael Massey, Lindsay Renae Julian (Matthew) and Kari Ross Leopard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VFW at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home, 4605 Belton Hwy., Anderson, SC 29621.
