She was predeceased by: her husband Bill M. Hughes; her parents, W. Homer Rainey and Hattie Hanks Rainey; and her siblings, Alvin Rainey, Herman Rainey, Mortie Rainey, Carl Rainey and Bessie Todd.
She is survived by: her children, Dr. Michael Morrison Hughes (Kathleen), Dr. Timothy Earl Hughes (Katherine) and Amanda Hughes Joyner (K. Craig); her grandchildren, Mary Alice Hughes (Adam Hardin), Gillian Lee (Joel), Billy Ray Hughes, Claibourne Hughes, Elizabeth Hughes, Trey Joyner and Carrie Joyner; and her great grandchildren, Ronan Lee, Julian Lee, Aiden Joyner and Carter Douglas.
