He was predeceased by: his parents, Rufus Gambrell, Sr. and Evangeline Gambrell; his granddaughter Angel; and his siblings, Dorothy Kirk, Birdie E. Tyler, Ruby M. Wiggins, Lorene G. Lee, Woodrow Gambrell and William "Bobby" L. Gambrell.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Gambrell; his children, Tonya Gambrell (Don), Patesha Gambrell (Melvin), Lamar Gambrell (Kristen) and Rufus Gambrell III; his grandchildren, Xavier, Aurie (Josh), Chaydon, Ethan, Elizabeth, Evangeline, Kingston and Grayce; and his great grandchildren, Keegan, Cameron, Jalaysia and Wesley. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
