He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Winstead and Ellen J. Winstead; and his brother Daniel H. Winstead. He is survived by: his wife Susan Perry Winstead; his children, Erin Sumter (Jody) of Anderson and Tyler Winstead (Jada) of Iva; his grandchildren, Preston and Brynsley Sumter; and his sister Ellen Douglas Ellis of Mansfield, Texas..
