He was predeceased by: his parents, H. P. Dove and Henri Sorrells Dove; and his siblings, Jean Goldsmith, Betty Sullivan, Bobby Dove and Larry Dove.

He is survived by: his wife Ann W. Dove; his children, Wesley David Dove (Miriam), Melissa Byrum (Charles) and Amanda Cochran (Duffie); his grandchildren, Chandler, Cameron, Christopher, Ginger (Stevie), Gwynn (Charlie), Morgan (Dakota), Madison, Mac, Emily, Lane and Cole; and his great grandchildren, Scarlett and Annie Mae.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church and Christian Academy, 2905 Standridge Road, Anderson, SC 29625, or Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
