Michael Govin Obituary

Anderson— Our beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend, Michael Andrew Govin, 31, of Anderson, passed away Wednesday February 13, 2019. Born in Anderson, he was the son of Jo and Lee Bruenning, and Mike Govin. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed fishing. Growing up, he played a number of sports, including football and baseball.

He loved spending time with his family and friends. Andrew was a man with a great heart. He was a gentle giant that would go out of his way to help anyone that he could. We'll always remember Andrew for his smile and laughing eyes. We will remember his quiet, laidback personality, and how deeply he cared for and was proud of all of his brothers and sisters.

His playful nature and "smirk" will be deeply missed. Andrew was also a devoted man of God. He was baptized at nine years old in the Chattahoochee River alongside his mother, and again at twenty-two in the Saluda River with Home with a Heart. Andrew had a faithful spirit not quick to be broken. Many of his loved ones remarked how he always carried a positive attitude, putting others first before himself.

Andrew touched a number of lives during his time in this world, including his siblings. In addition to his parents, he is survived by brothers and sisters: Taylor Bruenning of Anderson, Kyle Bruenning of Boston, Bryanna Govin, Brittany Govin, Michael Govin all of Simpsonville, Toni Moore of Spartanburg; as well as his grandmother, Anne Bruenning.

Andrew was preceded in death by his grandparents: Bennie and Laura Powell, Avis Govin, and Leonard Bruenning. Funeral service will be held at 6 PM Monday, February 18th, at Sullivan-King Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 4:30 PM until 6 PM prior to the service at the mortuary.
