With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Kizzy Mattress (Anderson, South Carolina), born in Lake City, South Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 15, 2025 at the age of 89. She was predeceased by: her husband Roosevelt Mattress, Sr.; her parents, Walter McClam and Mildred M. McClam; her children, Margaret Mattress Lee, Mary Mattress and Roosevelt Mattress, Jr.; her grandson Nickolus Mattress; her siblings, Rose McClam, Joe Lewis McClam and Walter McClam; and her sister-in-law Gertrude McClam.
She is survived by: her daughters, Betty Groves and Cathy Mattress. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, six nieces, two nephews, and a host of cousins.
Viewing was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home, Inc. (1212 S Main St, Anderson, SC 29624). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church (4909 SC-81, Starr, SC 29684). A burial will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery (4909 SC-81, Starr, SC 29684).
