He was predeceased by: his parents, J. B. Burden and Ruby Crimes Burden; his daughter Michelle Sargent; and his granddaughter Ashley Mitchell. He is survived by: his wife Diane Burden; his sons, Mark and Matthew Burden (Jessica); his stepchildren, Angie Gilstrap (Keith), Shannon Todd (Tracy) and Jeff Waters; his son-in-law Steve Sargent; his grandchildren, Summer Brissey, Seth Burden, Spencer Burden, Kaylee Gilstrap, Zachary Todd and Allie Todd; his great grandchildren, Kayden Gilliland, Maddox Brissey and Noah Brissey; and his pet BlackJack.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of the Upstate.
