He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe W. Dowd and Lucy Cameron; his sister Betty Dowd Dennis; and his cousin Morton Sutton Williams, Jr. (John). He is survived by: his daughters, Sara Dowd Vanderbloemen (Tom) of Greenville, SC. and Beth Dowd Puckett (Stephen) of Greenville, SC.; his grandsons, Sutton Edward Vanderbloemen, John Stephen Puckett, Samuel Bruce Vanderbloemen and Allen Julian Puckett; and also Barbara Whitfield Dowd.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boulevard Baptist Church, Open Door Sunday School Class, 700 Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621.
