He was predeceased by: his wife Janice Poole Wood; his parents, Jack Hilton and Frances Wilson Wood; his brother William "Bill" Wood; his siblings-in-law, Charlene Wood and Roy Nixon; and his niece Cathy Nixon Pierce.
He is survived by: his daughter Kris Wood Hawkins; his granddaughters, Mollie-Kate Gilmer and Emily Shay Gilmer; his brothers, Barry K. Wood (Nancy) and Robert M. Wood (Linda); his sisters-in-law, Ann Cheshire Wood, Carole Nixon and Doris Harbin (Doug); and his nieces and nephews, Cynthia, Sharon, Bryan, David, Steven, Blake, Alana and Alexander.
