She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernest J. Hethcote and Helen M. Hethcote. She is survived by: her husband Dr. Jack Couch; her sons, Kevin (Heather) and Jonathan Couch; and her grandchildren, Harlan, Katie Hays, Evie and Silas Couch.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Boulevard Baptist Church, 700 Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621 for her Sunday school class's mission projects.

“Jack and family. I am grieving with you this morning in the death of my friend Carmen. she sat beside me in Senior choir and helped me so much. She had a beautiful voice. She was so kind when Companions came to her home for meetings. It was so sad to watch her decline in health. Jack , you took such loving care of her when she couldn't do for herself. I am praying for you. May God comfort you and give you peace and hope knowing that God has not last word as Johnny always says. Love&Peace”
