She was predeceased by: her husband Rev. Hazell Quarles; her parents, James Underwood and Irene Jones Underwood McDowell; and her brothers, Shelton and Dennis Underwood.

She is survived by: her daughter Youlanda Terry Garner; and her siblings, E. Judy Underwood Wilson, Kim Underwood, Lawrence "Lonnie" Underwood and James Anthony Underwood.
