He was predeceased by: his parents, William Julius and Thelma Mae Stroud Hewitt; and his sister Melody Walsh. He is survived by: his sons, Matthew Hewitt (Katherine) and C. J. Hewitt (Ali); his grandchildren, Reese, Vivienne, Emma Hewitt, Brooks and Hudson Hewitt; and his siblings, Billy Hewitt (Paula) and Carolyn Marshall (Sherwood) of Easley, SC..

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Marine Toys for Tots.
