He was predeceased by: his parents, John Frederick Marshal Herron and Nancy Elizabeth Higginbottom Herron; his former wives, Minnie Lou Vansant Herron and Carrey Well Smith Herron; and his son Owen F. "Freddie" Herron, Jr..
He is survived by: his children, Marie Norsworthy (Dink) of Windsor, Janice Smathers (Jimmy) of Warrenville, Brenda Padget of Ward, Debbie Hubbs of Aiken and Anthony Mark Herron (Rhonda) of Aiken; his siblings, Barbra P. Britt, Lottie R. Snipes, Mary Ann Lynes and Heber T. Herron of Aiken; and his stepsons, Rodney Ready (Lucy) of Aiken, Todd Ready of Aiken, Carrey Ready of Aiken and Bud Ready of Aiken. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren.
