He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerome Berendsen and Melda Berendsen; and his brothers, Fred, Don, Gerrett and Howard Berendsen.
He is survived by: his children, Jane Simmons, Steve Berendsen (Miriam) and Bill Berendsen. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
