It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James L. Hiers (Aiken, South Carolina), born in Barnwell, South Carolina, who passed away on September 6, 2022, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Christine Duncan Hiers; his parents, Willie Ervin Hiers and Irene Grubbs Hiers; his son Rodney Hiers; and his siblings, John, Lee Allen Hiers, Ila Mae Ritchie, Dorothy Hiers, Sarah Wood and Peggy Youngblood.
He is survived by: his daughters, Patricia Johnson and Pamela Smith (Carl). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorials be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 1127 Bethel Church Road, Aiken, SC, 29801.
