He was predeceased by: his parents, John Fredrick Matthews and Eleanor Dunn Matthews. He is survived by: his wife Kim Elizabeth Matthews of Aiken, SC; his children, Marybeth Adkins of Norton, VA, Chris Matthews of Sandusky, OH, Todd Matthews of Silver Lake, OH and Travis Seagert (Brittany) of Ball Ground, GA; his son-in-law Marty Adkins of Norton, VA; and his sisters, Frances Wall (David) of Abingdon, VA and Catherine Gillespie of Orange, VA. He is also survived by his three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
